Annona reticulata - Red Custard Apple (San Pablo Seedling) Starter Plant in 2.5" pot
The delicious and beautiful Red Custard Apple! This species is native to the Caribbean and can have white yellow or red pulp. These are San Pablo variety seedlings and will have a simialr red flesh with delightful raspberry cheesecake flavor! One of the best Annona fruit in our opinion! It is good to start few of these for your garden or grove as they are simply amazing fruit and very hard to find, and even when you can they have been picked too early. You will be glad you did! We have discounted bundles available as well - we are offering them in packs of 1, 2 and 5
This fruit blew our minds when we first tried it a few years ago. The rich decadent raspberry cheesecake flavor was to die for! A truly decadent fruit that will have even the most hardcore fruit naysayers begging for another bite! Whether you will actually share it with them is up to you but its so delicious that we doubt you will!
The tree does not take up too much space, it is lanky and narrow leaved and can grow and fruit under mixed light canopy, though trees will take a more full shape and therefore fruit more heavily in more sun. WE recommend if you are interested in this fruit, to plant several as they can take a while to begin (5-7 years) and will set more fruit per tree with more neighbors producing pollen.
This tree has been seen in our area, St Petersburg FL, fruiting in April-May and can tolerate temperatures down to 32F and possibly the very upper 20sF as there are some large trees around town that have to have withstood a few rare cold snaps to 29F-27F. We recommend protecting from wind in such conditions to minimize dieback.
