Bouea macrophylla - Maprang - Air Layer Plant 5" pot
Maprang is a very rare fruit in the U.S but is very popular in Thailand! It tastes like its cousin, the mango, but with the texture of a plum or apricot, which is why it is also known as the ‘plum mango!’ Air -layered plants are nearly never seen for sale and will fruit faster than seedlings
A great fruit! Bright orange oval shaped fruits have thin skin, juicy mango flavored pulp and a bright purple seed. The seeds are said to be potently therapeutic as well! This fruit has slightly different leaves than mango, and the new growth is a beautiful translucent purple metallic color! A beautiful tree and a rare exotic addition to any tropical fruit collection! This is an air-layer clone of our 5-year tree so it will start fruiting sooner than from seed and at smaller sizes!
We have never seen this species offered as a clone of an older tree here in the U.S., only as starter seedlings which take 6-10 years to fruit!
